Giuseppe Picone, born in Naples, has been Director of the San Carlo Theatre Dance Company since 2016. Trained at the San Carlo Dance School and the National Academy of Dance in Rome, he began a brilliant international career at a very young age, making his debut in 1989 as the young Nijinsky alongside Carla Fracci.
A soloist with major companies such as the English National Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre, he dances in the world's leading theatres, performing the great roles of the classical and neoclassical repertoire. A guest of the most prestigious international companies, he participates in festivals, galas and major television broadcasts.
At the same time, he established himself as a choreographer, creating numerous successful productions and receiving important awards. He collaborated extensively with leading Italian theatres, including the Arena di Verona and Teatro Filarmonico, distinguishing himself as one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian dance.
